Beyond Black and White

I am a published author!

Since I first put pen to paper, I have dreamt about publishing my writing in a work that readers could pick up, read, reflect on, and add to their bookshelves.

Flash forward to three decades later, and my first book is finally out in the world!

Beyond Black And White: A Lady Writes The Hues Collection is a short anthology of poetry and essays about seeing all of the colours on the spectrum of life’s experiences.

It’s dedicated to those who want to make the world a more compassionate world to live in.

Thank you to Book Leaf Publishing for bringing this project to life and to my true blue Sonia for the constant inspiration and support.

You can order Beyond Black and White on Amazon in paperback and ebook format.

I hope this book brings you clarity, comfort, and a sense of community in these times when we need it the most.

2020 Vision: A Year of Endurance

2020 marked the beginning of a brand new decade. We swung into the new twenties with a hope for change, growth, and prosperity on the horizon.

There was an abundance of change, alright, and unlike anything we’ve ever envisioned or experienced before…

2019: A Year in Review

Throughout 2019, I fashioned my approach to the first year of my thirties after the spirit of living life with unbridled enthusiasm, as embodied in the whimsically wonderful film 13 Going on 30. Oh, how I wished to be thirty, flirty & thriving!

Live from New York, the Greatest City in the World

During the decade after I left my heart in New York City (back in 2007), I continued to dream many different variations of a dream of my inevitable return. Flash forward to last January, when a steal of a flight deal from YVR to NYC finally led me to start spreading the news that I was leaving on a (commercial) jet plane to the Empire State for Round 2!

Here’s a summary (with snapshots) of my adventures in New York during the first two weeks of March 2019.

Check out my Instagram posts and Instagram stories for more highlights from my trip.

2019 Going on 30

2019 marks my 13 Going on 30 year, or more like 2019 Going on 30.

There’s something about the whimsy and wonder that the character of Jenna Rink represents that I wish to embody in my 30th year and beyond. I want to get out of my head and start leading more with my heart. I want to have confidence in the ability to feel every emotion. I want to continue to work hard towards my ambitions, but also play hard. I want to live my life in living colour, or in other words, to live with unbridled enthusiasm.

It’s fitting that 2019’s Pantone Color of the Year just so happens to be living coral. This lively shade of pinkish-orange is described as an animating and life-affirming hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. Coming from the offline world of under the sea, coral, a source of sustenance and shelter, provides an antidote of comfort, optimism, and joy to balance out the prevalence of the online world of digital technology and social media in our daily lives.

I’m looking forward to carrying this thirty, flirty, and thriving energy into all of my pursuits in 2019!
